Theory & Practical Tests explained Theory TestA Theory Test can be arranged at any UK centre and once the test is passed the certificate is valid for 2 years. It is permissable to drive before you have passed the Theory Test but until you have passed you have no entitlement to a Practical Test and will therefore be unable to book one. If you require further advice please talk to us on 0800 345 7816 and we will be pleased to help. From 3 September 2007, the number of multiple choice questions in the theory test for car and motorcycle candidates was increased from 35 to 50.
Practical TestWhen attending for your practical test you must produce certain documents and have an appropriately insured and licensed vehicle suitable for the test. Make sure you have these documents available when the examiner calls your name. You must bring the following items with you. If you do not, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) may refuse to carry out the test and you may lose your fee.
If you misplace your licence, you must apply for a replacement from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which could take up to 15 days. If this happens, you may have to rearrange your test.
Test appointments are controlled by the Driving Standards Agency and the time it takes to pass the Theory and Practical tests depends on the current waiting lists. If your preferred test time is unavailable we will keep trying on your behalf until we get a suitable appointment. You should allow as much time as possible when booking your test or intensive course, however, we can arrange courses at very short notice. Please contact us to discuss availability.
